Hi Readers! What do you like to think about? Okay, I know it’s
a loaded question, but think about it for a minute. Do you think about sports
and the latest score of your favorite team? What about the person in the car
beside you in traffic? Why do they look like they would like to be anywhere but
in traffic? Are they just experiencing a rough day or did something happen to a
family member and they just want to get there to help?
One of the things I enjoy is making up stories for what
fraction of action I see happening around me. Like tonight, there was a
helicopter that landed in a field and there were ambulances with lights
flashing. What was happening? Why was life flight called when we were only a
few miles from the hospital? Maybe there was a snake bite and the anti-venom
was in the helicopter. Maybe the emergency needed to be transported to a
hospital further away? These are the scenes that happen around us in the real
world that can help write exciting scenes in our novels.
